In the quiet corners of Kandy’s streets, where forgotten paws roam and wagging tails go unnoticed, Powered by Women stepped in with a different kind of outreach — one not just for people, but for the voiceless lives that walk among us.

Through one of our recent community efforts, our team set out to feed stray dogs across Kandy, offering not just food, but also a message: compassion belongs to all creatures.

This initiative wasn’t just about one meal.It was a gesture of love, and the first step in our broader hope — to one day help find sustainable solutions for stray animals across Sri Lanka.

Why Strays Matter.

Sri Lanka’s stray dog population continues to rise, with thousands of dogs living without proper shelter, food, or care. Many suffer silently from malnutrition, illness, and abandonment — caught in the gaps of limited infrastructure and social awareness.

At Powered by Women, we believe that kindness should never be selective. These dogs are part of our communities too — they live beside us, protect our streets, and simply want to survive.

Feeding them is just the beginning.What we truly envision is a future where stray animals are treated with dignity, with access to food, care, and ultimately, safety.

While our team distributed food to dozens of dogs, what we received in return were grateful eyes, wagging tails, and the silent bond that only unconditional love can express.

This wasn’t a one-time gesture.It’s part of a growing movement within Powered by Women — one where we seek to extend compassion beyond humans and build a culture of empathy, accountability, and action.

We are now exploring partnerships with local vets, animal welfare organizations, and potential sponsors to support efforts in sterilization, vaccinations, and long-term care for strays.
